| Biography: | Todd owns Write Here Right Now, Inc., an Occupational Therapy and tutoring practice that specializes in the remediation of writing problems. As a former tenured elementary school teacher and an Occupational Therapist, Todd's unique background allows him to fully understand written expression problems. A variety of instructional strategies are utilized in order to build the writer's self confidence so that the reluctant writer begins to tackle more complex writing tasks. Todd teaches body awareness, remediates grip problems, builds keyboarding skills, implements techniques to teach proper letter formation, increases a student's understanding of how to elaborate ideas in sentence and paragraph form and makes handwriting an easy and automatic skill. Todd regularly treats pre-kindergarten through high school aged children and has even helped several adults along the way (an attorney and a physician's assistant are the most recent examples!). Todd uses his unique background to help train others throughout the country in using the Handwriting Without Tears and Keyboarding Without Tears programs. He is one of only a handful of national presenters teaching 1 and 2 day seminars on how to use and implement HWT and KWT's curricula. Both HWT and KWT meticulously choose their national presenters based upon their clinical knowledge, expertise in the field of OT, and interpersonal skills. Todd has been featured as a handwriting specialist on several local and national network television news shows. He has hosted a webinars including one with Jan Olsen. He has been published in nationally distributed periodicals such as the Costco Connection. He has advocated for the importance of explicit instruction in handwriting both locally and nationally, and has twice briefly met with a member of the US Congress in this regard. He is extremely versed in multi-sensory techniques to remediate both handwriting and overall writing problems. Todd is licensed as an Occupational Therapist in MD, VA and DC and provides OT services at many private schools and from his home office in Potomac, MD.
