Biography:	Deana Lesher graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy in 1993. She is currently employed as an Occupational Therapist with the East Central Kansas Special Education Cooperative. She serves children of all ages in multiple rural school districts. In May of 2009 she became a Level 1 Certified Handwriting Specialist. Deana is licensed by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts and is a member of the Kansas Occupational Therapy Association. She has been successful at using the principles from the Handwriting Without Tears program for 5 years with children of different ability levels. She was instrumental in adopting this curriculum in multiple school districts, beginning with the foundational ages in pre-school and building up through fourth grade. Deana is passionate about helping kids succeed in developing handwriting skills. She believes that when handwriting becomes a natural and automatic skill, kids will develop the confidence they need to become independent writers, which will facilitate academic success.
