| Biography: | Christa is an occupational therapist who is passionate about working with children and helping them to reach their full potential. She has worked in a variety of settings, including early intervention, preschools, elementary schools, clinics, and private practice. She began her career as a pediatric occupational therapist in Chicago in 2006 and has since worked in both Connecticut and New York. Christa received her Master's degree in occupational therapy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her Master's thesis was published in the American Journal of Occupational Therapy in 2007. She uses an interactive, family-centered approach that builds upon the child's interests, enjoyments, and strengths to further the child's self-regulation and engagement with others. Christa works closely with parents, teachers, and an interdisciplinary team of therapists in order to best meet the child's needs throughout the day and across a variety of environments. She is certified in Sensory Integration, Handwriting Without Tears, Therapeutic Listening, and has extensive training in the DIR (Developmental Individual-Difference Relationship) model. Outside of work, Christa enjoys spending her time with her family and friends. She loves outdoor activities, including biking and hiking |
