Biography:	I am a board certified occupational therapist (OT), licensed in the state of California. I have been practicing as a pediatric OT in the schools for 25 years and have worked primarily with pre-school through 5th grade students. I have worked with some middle school and high school students as well. Written communication can be very challenging for some students. However, it is very important for school success for a number of reasons. One of these reasons is that neat written work and a higher degree of work production generally improves teacher perception of student performance (their subjective evaluation of students' abilities increases). Another reason is that a student's own perceived performance and self-esteem improve when they can write more neatly and fluidly, with less effort. Unfortunately there has been a lack of structure surrounding handwriting instruction in the schools, if any instruction is provided at all. I am motivated to give children the writing skills they need to increase legibility, ease of writing, and level of work production for school success! I have elementary-age kids as well, so also understand their needs from a personal perspective. I strive to make writing fun!!
