Biography:Mark Kassis, OTR/L, received his degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He has over 24 years of pediatric experience and has provided services to children in various educational settings including the Bronx Center for Multiple Handicapped Children. Currently, Mark is proud to be part of the faculty of the Ossining Union Free School District in Ossining, New York where he provides services to the special needs population. Although trained in the HWT Pre-K through 5th grade curriculum, his area of expertise is K-2. Mark's experience using the HWT curriculum includes successfully adapting standard school handwriting programs to meet the needs of children with learning disabilities, developmental delays and those on the PDD spectrum. Mark is an imaginative and perceptive individual, oftentimes creating new strategies to facilitate more efficient skill acquisition. Although Mark is a seasoned therapist, he continually strives to build his skills. He has taken many continuing education workshops including Therapeutic Yoga: Bridging Ancient Practices with Traditional Therapy Techniques, Current Practices in NDT, Alternative Medicine and Complementary Care, Autism Spectrum: The Bridge Between Current Research in Neurology & Its Application to Clinical Practice, Breakthrough Learning Interventions for Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia & Right Brain Thinkers, Beyond Weight Bearing: Getting the Hands to Work More Efficiently and Neurokinesthetic Approach to Hand Function and Handwriting. Mark is also a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
