Biography:Owner and Founder of The Point, Occupational Therapy in Montgomery County, Maryland. Cortney attended the University of Maryland to receive a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and went on to gain her Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from Towson University. Cortney has worked as a pediatric occupational therapist in various settings since 2012 with extensive experience and continuing education in motor planning and praxis, visual perceptual-motor skills, ocular motor skills, fine motor and gross motor development, feeding therapy, and sensory processing. She began her career in Baltimore, MD working with children at The Kennedy Krieger Lower Middle School where she provided direct individual therapy, group sessions, and consultation within the school system, including taking part in the development and follow-through of IEPs and 504 Plans. Cortney went on to work at a preschool/elementary school for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disorders which included outpatient private therapy. Cortney and her family moved to Montgomery County in 2016, where she continued her passion as a pediatric occupational therapist focusing on outpatient private therapy for ages 2-18 with varying degrees of challenges. She received her training and certification in the Handwriting Without Tears ® Pre-K through 5th Grade curriculum, Cursive Curriculum, as well as in the administration of the Print Tool™ Assessment, to become a Level 1 Handwriting Specialist.
