Biography:Karina Black has always been passionate about working with kids. As early as elementary school, she found herself naturally drawn to helping children with special needs. Karina continued working with children throughout high school by volunteering in special education classrooms. The work she did with these students led her to the realization that she wanted to become an occupational therapist. Karina received her degree in occupational therapy from San Jose State University in California. She has been an occupational therapist for over 30 years and has vast experience working with children and adults in a variety of settings. Before calling the foothills of the Rocky Mountains home, Karina owned a highly successful occupational therapy practice in Palm Springs, California. In her private practice, she and her staff provided therapy services to a skilled nursing/rehabilitation center, an adult daycare program, and an outpatient clinic. She worked with clients whose ages ranged from teen to centenarian. After moving to Colorado, Karina became a certified Handwriting Without Tears specialistĀ® and founded a successful pediatric practice in Boulder, Co, which allowed her to reconnect with her passion for helping children gain the confidence and life skills required for optimal success. Karina has 15 years of experience using the Handwriting Without TearsĀ® program and has seen it work wonders with students who are beginning writers as well as those who present with mild to severe handwriting difficulties. Karina is an experienced therapist, who brings authenticity and humor to her work and life. Her patient, gentle approach is appreciated by parents and children alike.
