Biography:Krysti Teng, MS, OTR/L, graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Occupational Science. Stemming from her studies in occupational justice and her passion for education reform, Krysti joined the Teach for America South Louisiana corps and has had experience teaching middle school mathematics and resource special education in both district and charter schools. In hope of learning more about school systems and structures, she also has assisted in managing the daily school operations in high-performing, urban charter schools within the New York City area. Krysti ultimately returned to her roots, having graduated from Columbia University with a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy. Krysti serves as the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Sensory Integration and Processing Special Interest Section (SIPSIS) Young Professionals Coordinator, an elected term that guides and mentors new practitioners and occupational therapy students towards professional development opportunities. She also holds a Certificate in Ayres Sensory Integration® (CASI) with the Collaborative of Leadership in Ayres Sensory Integration (CLASI), in which she was trained to administer and interpret sensory integration assessments (the Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests [SIPT], the Sensory Processing Measure [SPM], and Evaluation in Ayres Sensory Integration [EASI]) in a valid, reliable and feasible manner and implement effective pediatric occupational therapy intervention with fidelity to evidence-based principles as defined in the literature. Throughout her career, Krysti has been a strong advocate in closing the opportunity gap by partnering with families and community, as it truly "takes a village" to raise a child. In her free time, Krysti enjoys reading a good book, cooking, or discovering coffeehouses' best mochas across town.
